Port Blair, May 16: In compliance to the directions of the Lieutenant Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bio-Metric Attendance System has been also installed in the District Office, South Andaman. The system was formally launched by Mr. Anand Prakash, IAS, Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration on 16-05-2012 at 03:30 PM.
The Chief Secretary, A & N Administration in his brief address congratulated the District Administration for taking the ideal step towards ensuring punctuality. However, he directed the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman to ensure that this system actually remains functional and proper monitoring is done.
Earlier, Mr. Rupesh Kumar Thakur, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman while welcoming the Chief Secretary emphasised the need of installation of Bio-Metric Attendance System in the District Office and assured the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration that proper monitoring of attendance would be done through this system and action would be taken against the habitual latecomers. He also pointed out that this system would certainly be helpful in ensuring punctuality which in turn would result in better delivery of public services by District Administration.
The Bio-Metric finger print reader installed at the District Office, South Andaman is a very updated system. It has unique feature of automatic upload of attendance punch to the database which results in realtime monitoring of attendance. Attendance software is a webbased software and attendance can be monitored through internet also.
The function was attended by various Secretaries and Officer of Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
