Port Blair, May 31: A total of 136 Myanmarese Nationals were released this afternoon from the “Open Distress Camp’ Prothrapur and were later repatriated to their country after completion of their sentence at Andaman.
As per reports, the Consul General of Myanmar, Kolkata arrived here today for completing the formalities with the Andaman Administration after which all 136 Myanmarese were released for Myanmar.
It is learnt that a special flight also arrived here from Myanmar to pick these people.
These people were kept in a camp at Prothrapur Jail since last few months after the completion of their sentence. It is also learnt that some more Burmese Nationals will be released in the days to come.
