Port Blair, May 29: Non-functional ACs and slow speed of MV Swaraj Dweep triggered huge protest onboard on Saturday evening. MV Swaraj Dweep recently returned from Oman after full maintenance but still most of the ACs of the ships are not working now, giving nightmares to passengers in this rough weather.
Adding to the plight of passengers the speed of the ship was reduced and it was announced that instead of 9.00 am on Sunday the ship will reach Chennai only by 10.00 pm on Sunday.
Following this, angry and frustrated passengers staged protest and demanded to increase the speed of the ship as many people have confirmed train tickets for Sunday night.
Following the protest the Captain of the ship reportedly increased the speed of the ship and the ship reached at Chennai at around 7.00 PM but the matter of faulty ACs could not be resolved till the end.
One questions that even after expensive repair works at Oman and Mainland India very recently why the ACs are not working in MV Swaraj Dweep? Being Sunday no officers of DSS could be reached for a comment in this regard.
