Port Blair, May 20: The District Administration removed 17 hutments constructed on land at survey no. 1/P at Garacharma village and reclaimed about 1 hectares of government land. It was found that the hutments constructed over government revenue land were vacant and an inquiry has been initiated to find the culprits trespassed on government property for filing of FIR.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate, South Andaman along with Tehsildar, Port Blair inspected the site on receipt of information from area Patwari/Public and thereafter the eviction process was carried out. It has been observed that some unscrupulous elements are taking advantage of the leniency of administration not to disturb encroachers after the meeting held on Feb 6 at Raj Niwas.
The general public have been hereby advised to desist from encroaching government land and to pass on information of any unscrupulous elements to the District Control Room, Port Blair over phone to 1070, 238881, 240127. Strict action will be taken against unscrupulous element who resist in eviction of encroachments.
