Port Blair, May 17: National Dengue Day was observed as on 16th May 2016 throughout the Islands. In this connection an inaugural function was held in Auditorium of GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair in coordination with UT Health Mission and Directorate of Health Services on the theme “The Dengue Control Everyone’s Concern”. Dr. Shipra Paul, Director of Health Services/Mission Director (UTHM) was the chief guest on the occasion.
Shri. Subrata Biswas, District Malaria Officer welcomed the gathering.
Dr. Amitabha De, Deputy Director (Malaria), described various aspects of Dengue fever and emphasized the need of intersectoral co-ordination and also discussed the preventive measure with special emphasis on preventing Aedes Mosquito breeding and stressed the need of community participation.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Shri. Madhu Prakash, Assistant Malaria Officer, Port Blair.
