Port Blair, May 6: On May 3, a complaint of burglary was reported at P.S. Bambooflat regarding theft of cash around Rs. 4,00,000/- from a residence of Shore Point-Ward No.1. The Police gathered information that the suspect along with his companion absconded to Rangat. Taking prompt action, a police team was dispatched to Rangat and with the help of local police accused persons namely V. Suresh (25 yrs) R/o Shore Point and G. Prashant (22 yrs) R/o Hope Town were arrested and brought to Bambooflat on May 4. They are being interrogated after producing them in the Court at Port Blair, for recovery of stolen articles and instruments used in breaking of locks. The complainant of the case alongwith his family members had left to Mayabunder on 30/4/2016 to attend a function after keeping the cash in their under-construction house.
The A&N police is committed to keep the general public safe and secure and any crime should be reported to the Police Control Room immediately. People have also been requested not to keep huge of amount of cash and ornaments in house, it should be kept in respective banks to avoid theft of their valuable articles and keep an eye over roaming of suspicious or antisocial elements in their locality.
