Port Blair, May 6: Ensuring zero tolerance against serious offences, the South Andaman District Special Team alongwith SHO Pahargaon acting on reliable information apprehended Gauri Shankar (32) yrs, Pvt. Watchman R/o Austinabad and seized 1.2 kilos of illicit ganja from his possession recently.
A case vide crime No. 72/16 u/s 20(b)(ii)(B) NDPS Act 1985 was registered at PS Pahargaon. Investigation revealed that the culprit had procured the contraband from his native place Chhattisgarh while he was returning to Port Blair via Kolkata and disposed of some portion of the ganja. Further investigation of the case is in progress. The general public have been requested to pass on any credible information on any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233077, 232405, 232400, 250525 & 100. The informant will be suitably rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret
