Port Blair, April 26: The 3rd All Andaman Open Kyokushin Karate Championship -cum- Demonstration, organized By Sensei Anusheel Chakraborty, IKO Kyokushinkaikan Andaman Branch Representative, was inaugurated by the Chief Secretary, Mr Anindo Majumder, A&N Administration on Sunday at Tagore Govt. College of Education here. He gave away trophy to the winners in Light Weight and Heavy Weight Full Contact fighting category In this tournament in presence of the Chief Patron of All Karate Association A&N Islands, Mr G. Bhaskar.
Mr V. Thrimurthy became the Grand Champion in the Heavy Weight Full Contact Fighting category, while Mr Sandupal Dutta and Tunta Jayaram bagged the second and third positions respectively.
In the Light Weight Full Contact fighting category, Mr Apurva Sarkar became Grand Champion, while Mr Shibu Mridha became Runners up. The panel of judges and referees for the championship was headed by Sensei Anusheel Chakraborty.
Mr I.P. Singh, Councillor of Ward No.7, Shihan Anup Chakraborty, Secretary General of All Karate Association A&N Islands, Smt Sheela Chakraborty and Mr. Andaman and Lt. Governor’s Commendation Certificate Awardee, Sensei Anusheel Chakraborty also presented trophies and medals to the winners in various weight Full Contact fighting category.
In the event, some special and attractive and thrilling Karate demonstration & Fights were exhibited by Junior, Sub Junior(Boys & Girls) without the use of pads & Gloves in the Full Contact Fighting and their fights were most eye catching throughout the Tournament , Sr. Karate Members such as Sensei Nirmal Sheel broken 3 Nos Ice Blocks with Head with the technique of summersault, Senpai Sneha Jain demonstrated Nunchaku and breaking a 2 mud pots, Senpai Apurva Sarkar jumped over 7 persons and broken Tiles, Senpai Thrimurthy broken bricks with a single shuto, various knife & Common Self defense techniques by Senpai Sandupal Dutta and by the Girls students were also presented. Mr Bunty and Group presented some hit Bollywood numbers while Karate students presented dance performances.
