Port Blair, Apr 24: A 25 year old youth of Kadamtala was allegedly picked up and beaten up by staffs of Kadamtala Police Station yesterday. As the police team could not prove any fault from the side of the youth, he was released later on. The boy has now been admitted in Hospital.
According to reports last week some miscreants have brunt a jeep of a resident of the area and after complaint the police team of Kadamtala could not find the culprit till date. Under pressure the police team of Kadamtala Police Station picked up this youth Inderjeet Mandal, a private worker and allegedly tortured him.
Some villagers of the area reportedly asked the Pradhan of the area to take some step against police in this case but when they found that the Pradhan was reluctant there was some argument in the Main Bazaar of Kadamtala. It has been learnt that at late evening hours people who raised voice against this were summoned to the Police Station. Further details are awaited.
