Port Blair, April 22: The Saddle Peak Green Eco Club of Govt. Sr. Sec Diglipur, North Andaman celebrated World Earth Day on Friday on the theme “Tree for the Earth” with enthusiasm. The occasion was marked by sensitizing the young mind to generate awareness about the importance of our Mother Earth. This year the valuable plant sapling of Neem, Ashoka, Jamun, Lemon, Orange and other fruit bearing Trees were distributed as prize by the Principal among the highest grade points and toppers of class IX to XI, the same sapling were also distributed among the sports champions, National level participants of Role play team members and IGNITE Awardee.
Mr S. Gurumurthy, the Vice-Principal of GSSS D/pur said that one should join hands together to save our Mother Earth from the degradation of environment”. He reminded Children of their responsibilities towards the Mother Earth and administered to protect and save our fast depleting Natural Recourses. He appreciated “Eco-Club members for their effort and uniqueness in the “Earth Day Celebration””. Students also participated in creative activities like slogan writing, signature campaign, card making while showcasing their awareness about Conserving natural resources.
Mr Chanchal Singha Roy GTT (sci.)and In charge of “Saddle Peak Green Eco-Club” expressed that, there are many ways to be green that don’t need a huge investment of money, time or space; it’s about using things cleverly and creative with positive efforts. He also aware the students a different ways to protect plant saplings from sever heat. GSSS Diglipur has expressed gratitude to Forest Ranger and staff members of the Central Nursery, Laxmipur for issuing valuable saplings for plantation.
