Port Blair, April 19: In the quarter final matches of the Sudhangshubala Memorial Volleyball tournament, Nancowry, Andaman Police, Swaraj Youth club beat their opponents, Southy Eros, Diglipur and Rangat to clinch the semi-final berths. As Hut Bay could not play due to some reasons, Trisha Bros got walkover to make it to the semi-final round. The finals of the tournament will be held on April 23 at Garacharma Mini Stadium.
Sudhangshubala Foundation is registered trust which has started its activities from Nadia and apart many other social works it is giving full financial assistance to students who got admitted to Govt Medical schools/colleges. Presently the foundation is bearing all expenses of 17 such bright students from economically challenged families to fulfil their aspiration of being doctors and or engineers to the students of Nadia district. In Jan, 2014 total 630 girl students from 50 schools, and in Jan 2015 total 1200 girl students from 77 schools were gifted cycles. Hearses were donated to Krishnagar and Nabadwip Municipalities to fulfil long standing need of the people of those towns. These are a few social activities which were given to Nadia. Though at present the foundation is working for the people of this particular area but that does not mean that it will not spread its wings to other parts of India.
With a view of enhancing peoples’ well being and transforming lives, the foundation has decided to render its services to the people of AN Islands by providing drinking water through hand pumps, gifting cycles to girl students, distributing orthopedic appliances to physically challenged persons etc etc to needy inhabitants of these islands, especially of remote areas.
To promote sports and games in these islands, the foundation has organized Sudhangshubala memorial volley ball tournament across AN Islands and it final match will be played at Garacharma Mini Stadium on April 23.
