Port Blair, May 13: A Continuing Dental Education (CDE) programme on Implantology was recently organised by the Directorate of Health Services in association with Indian Dental Association, Port Blair branch & Dinesh Dental Clinic, golghar in the Auditorium of the AYUSH hospital for the benefit of the doctors of the G.B Pant Hospital, & Dental Surgeons from outer Islands and doctors from INHS Dhanvantri. Prof. Dr.V. Rangarajan, MDS, Prosthodontist & Implantologist from Chennai delivered a Multimedia presentation on “Dental Implants-excellent options for tooth replacement” he said Dental Implants are permanent fixtures to support natural looking teeth and enable toothless patients who are missing some or all of their natural teeth in one or both jaws, to smile, speak with confidence & chew their food comfortably.
Many old & young patients cannot wear dentures for physical or psychological reasons. Fortunately Implants offer a ray of hope for toothless people, if you are missing all of your teeth; an implant-supported full denture can replace them.
Dental implants will replace both your lost natural teeth. In the long term, implants can be more esthetic and easier to maintain than conventional dentures. The loss of bone that accompanies conventional dentures leads to recession of the jawbone and a collapsed, unattractive smile. Conventional dentures make it difficult to eat certain foods. Finally, full dentures will be created and attached to your implants or the connecting device. After a short time, you will experience restored confidence in your smile and your ability to chew and speak. Under proper conditions, and diligent patient maintenance, implants can last a lifetime and your bone is better preserved.
