Port Blair, Mar 31: The Lieutenant Governor A&NI reviewed the progress of Smart City Proposal that is under preparation by the smart city team of PBMC. The Chief Secretary and Chairperson PBMC were also present during the review meeting. The last date for submission of the smart city proposal is April 15th and PBMC has taken inputs from the general public, mentor institutes and experts to finalise the Smart City Proposal. The team headed by Secretary and other officials of PBMC gave a presentation to the LG on the progress of the proposal and the list of projects that will be shortly finalised for submission before April 2016 to the Ministry of Urban Development. The LG and Chief Secretary gave critical insights on the current proposal and suggested certain improvements and new citizen friendly projects for inclusion in the Smart City Proposal that is nearing finalisation. Apart from this, LG also reviewed the performance of the PBMC under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, PBMC’s plan for augmenting the municipal services in the newly created wards and the structural reforms that needs to be undertaken to improve the urban service delivery in Port Blair. The Chairperson also apprised the Lt Governor about other relevant issues and the Lt Governor assured her of all support.
A detailed presentation on the structural reforms is also to take place later this month.
