Port Blair, March 29: Asleelatha Nivaran Holika was organized on March 23 at Bathu Basthi by DIYA (Divine India Youth Association) a youth wing of Gayatri Chetana Kendra, Port Blair. The programme started with a procession conveying the message of women empowerment, boycotting the product wherein the indecency / vulgarity of women is used for their promotion, ill effects of using alcohol and synthetic colors for Holi celebration. The chief guest, Smt. Anusiya Devi, Councilor, Ward no 9, and Mr N.K. Udhaya Kumar Councilor ward no 24 addressed the gathering.
A team from Shanthikunj, Haridwar Mr Santosh Mahato, Mr Rajendra Rajwanci, Mr Pavan Rajoriya and Mr Suraj Pal presented various songs on women empowerment, ill effects of alcohol and Holi faag. An oath was administered to the gathering to boycott the products wherein dignity of the women folk was affected, and celebrate Holi in peaceful manner and not to drink alcohol and create nuisance.
A “Holika Dahan” of immoral books, posters/pictures which mislead our culture and provoke youth thoughts were put in Holika Dahan. A special auhiti of one’s bad habit of each was paid by the public on the eve of Holi. Followed by 24 Gayatri Mantra ahuthi. Earlier, Mr Anil Shrivasthav of GCK welcomed the gathering. Mr Hamant kumar Dhingra of GCK proposed the vote of thanks.
