Diglipur, Mar 20: Yet another matter of Child Marriage has been reported from these Islands. This time it has been reported from Diglipur Island.
It has been learnt that in June 2015, a minor girl from Radhanagar Village of Diglipur was married to Havelock Resident. The marriage of solemnized at Kadamtala village of Middle Andaman after which the child shifted to Havelock.
Recently due to some personal reasons after nearly nine months the girl, who is pregnant now, came back to her father’s house at Radhanagar and when the girl was taken to CHC Diglipur for checkup, the matter of Child Marriage came to light. The Police has reportedly registered a case of Child Marriage under relevant sections of law at PS Diglipur.
