Port Blair, Mar 17: Giving thrust on health training, the Andaman and Nicobar Command conducted a five day Health training capsule for children in the age group 10 to 16 years from March 14-18, 2016 at the Station Health Organisation, Port Blair. Two such capsule courses for families were conducted in September and October 2015.
Lectures and practical demonstrations were conducted by the Command medical and nursing officers. The aim of the capsule for teachers and children was to train them in First Aid, nursing procedures and casualty evacuation in order to make them self-reliant at home and school. This training, it is envisaged, will also be of help during disaster relief operations in the community.
About 31 children were trained in the capsule. Apart from the hands-on training imparted, field trips were also conducted for them in order to make the Health Training Course more useful and instructive. In view of the enthusiastic response of children, more such courses are planned to be conducted regularly. The next course is scheduled for five days from March 21, 2016.
