Port Blair, Mar 15: A 5-day Community Living Camp 2015-16 of Tagore Govt. College of Education, Port Blair was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Smti. Tanvi Garg, IAS, Secretary (Education) at 7.30 a.m. on 15th march 2016. On her arrival, she was received by the Principal and escorted by the College Band Troop and a display of different marching formations was presented.
To mark the beginning of the camp, College flag was hoisted and the Chief Guest administered the Oath of the camp to all the campers. It was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp. Shri. Sharda Ram, Ex- Secretary (Scout and Guide) was also present on this auspicious occasion as a special guest. Dr. J. D. Singh, Principal of the college, welcomed the Chief Guest and throw light on the need and importance of the 5-day Community Living Camp. The activities which will be under taken throughout the camp were briefly described. There are altogether 122 campers from first year B.Ed. and Final year U.G.Ed. participating in the full time camp.
Blessing the occasion, the Chief Guest congratulated the Principal for organising the camp and wished of great success of the camp. She exhorted the campers to participate in all the camp related activities sincerely and whole heartedly and it will be more helpful in their future endeavour. In her speech, she appreciated the display of band troop of the college for their wonderful performance.
As per the camp schedule this day was marked for the activities of the Scout and Guide movement. During the course of this day, the Resource Persons have taken lecture- demonstration classes on Scout and Guide movement. The presentations included of various aspects of Scout and Guide such as history of the movement, pledge, Scout and Guide laws, flag, duties of Scout and Guide, scout songs, clapping, knotting, types of fire, etc. The classes were found very informative and will be useful in their future career.
