Mayabunder, Feb 17: Since last four days, the lone SBI ATM at Mayabundar is down because of some network error, leaving people of the area in deep trouble.
People of Mayabunder region are experiencing great trouble in making any kind of financial transactions, which is possible through ATM.
Poor people are unable to withdraw their wages from bank and hence they are facing financial problems in their day to day life. Even the parents are worried as they are unable to send money to their children studying in Mainland.
Not only the lower and middle sections are suffering due to this problem but also the business class people are equally hit as they are unable to carry out their bank related financial activities and hence they are compelled to burn their energy, time and money to go to the Billyground SBI branch in order to make their respective financial transactions.
Many senior citizens coming from remote villages of Mayabunder region like Tugapur, Chainpur etc are unable to withdraw their money and their condition is so worst that they don’t have money to go back.
When contacted by the reporter of Andaman Sheekha, the SBI branch manager of Mayabunder said that the problem will be rectified within a day or two depending on the arrival of technical hands from Port Blair. One wonder that how come it takes more than four days to get a technical hand from Port Blair which is hardly 300 km away from Mayabunder.
