Rangat, Feb 11: As the row over high sanitation Tax imposed by Rangat Panchayat is taking serious turn, the Pradhan maintains that to fix the rate there is no need to consult with the public.
Such attitude of Pradhan, who has been elected by the residents of the area recently, has left people of the Rangat fuming.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha today, the Pradhan of Rangat Gram Panchayat, Satish Kumar Singh today said that the decision has been taken by the Panchayat, in presence of Panchayat Members and hence there is no need to take opinion from public.
This is worth mentioning here that when PBMC had imposed sanitation tax on local businessmen, the top decision makers of PBMC had series of meeting with different business owners in city to discuss and finally the sanitation tax, which is accepted to all. But sadly a small Panchayat like Rangat has failed to follow the same procedure.
The Pradhan told Andaman Sheekha that the Panchayat gets only Rs. 3 Lakhs from Administration every year for Sanitation, which is insufficient and hence the Panchayat has been asked by Administration to arrange funds by local sanitation tax.
