Puducherry, Feb 04: The team of eight media persons who are currently on visit to Chennai and Puducherry, as part of the media exposure tour, today visited various places at the heritage city of Puducherry. The group visited Raj Niwas at Puducherry and interacted with the Secretary to Lt. Governor, Shri Srikant.
The Secretary briefed the scribes about the historical importance of the city and its relevance with the French colonial rule. He also disclosed that Puducherry has a population of over 12 lakhs which also include a sizeable population of French origin. He also presented mementoes to the media delegation.
Thereafter, the media team also visited Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple, Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Botanical Garden and Aricamelu. The team also visited Chunambar Boat Club and enquired about the various tourism facilities offered to the visitors.
Tomorrow, the team is scheduled to visit Karaikal, another prominent tourist attraction of Puducherry.
