A three day Entrepreneurship development programme which commenced on 01st February 2016 under the aegis of Ministry of MSME, Government of India in association with ITCOT Consultancy and Services Ltd., Chennai and Yuvasakthi (NGO), Port Blair got underway here on 3rd February 2016 in the conference hall of Yuvasakthi at RGT Road, Port Blair.
Aimed at empowering the coir based artisans of yuvasakthi, this three days programme witnessed the participation 70 odd beneficiaries where a cross section of officials from various Departments like Coir Board, NABARD, Industries, banks took part.
On the inaugural day of the programme on 1st February 2016, Mr. M.N.Murali , Director of Industries, A&N Administration was the chief guest. During his inaugural speech, the Director of Industries assured the artisans of his support through the Industries Department in marketing the finished coir handicraft products. He also called for promoting the scattered artisan groups into a cluster in order to carry out vast manufacturing activities in a collective manner.
Mr.Kundan Lall, District Youth Coordinator, NYK delivered lecture on “Achievement and Motivation” where he enlightened the participants on various aspects of motivation and achievement. Mr.Senpagaraja,
Co-founder, Yuvasakthi who undertook a lecture on “Attitude building” elaborately explained the importance of individual’s attitude in promoting entrepreneurship. Mr.Ravinder Rao, MD, ANSCB Ltd., spoke in length about “Business opportunity, identification and guidance” where he elaborately talked about various aspects of business opportunities, production, marketing, creating local identity for coir products etc.
On the second day of the training i.e 2nd Feb., 2016, a full day technical session was conducted by Mr.Manoj, Officer-in Charge, Coir Board and Mr.Sadhik, Instructor Coir Board who took the participants through various aspects like “business opportunities in coir sector, market prospects for coir products, coir board schemes and assistance”. The end of the day also witnessed an interactive session where participants got their doubts clarified on further training, technical assistance etc. from coir board.
The third day of the session i.e 3rd Feb.,2016 which culminated in the valedictory session of the programme witnessed the participation of bankers from IDBI Bank viz. Mr.S.Vignesh, Asst. Manager, Mr.M.Suresh Babu, Business Development Officer and Mr.Soma Sundaram, Sales Executive who gave an detailed lecture on financial literacy where accounting aspects and banking procedures took the centre-stage. The programme came into formal conclusion with Mr.Manoj and Mr.Shadik alongwith participants undertaking a field visit to coir handicraft centre’s run by coir artisans of Yuvasakthi at Prothrapur and adjoining areas. The Coir Board officials also assured the participants of requisite technical expertise and advanced training thorough the coir board.
