Diglipur, Jan 29: Taking cognizance of the Alcohol consumption at Ross & Smith Island on 27th Jan by high profile people of Diglipur, the Divisional Forest Officer has decided that no permits will be issued to fibre boats namely “Ankit” and “Sarla” for abetment in commission of the above mentioned offence for a period of 15 days.
One this issue, the DFO said that the Smith Island Eco-Tourism site is only its juvenile stage of tourism and several developmental and promising employment enerating projects are underway to further development of Eco-tourism in Smith Island.
Such unscrupulous activities will jeopardizes the sanctity and popularity of the tourism site which otherwise has taken several years to gain recognition in the world tourism map and presently it is gaining the status of most favored designation in North and Middle Andaman District.
