Port Blair, Jan.27: As a part of celebration of the ongoing Animal Welfare Fortnight, the department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, in association with Pasu Pakshi Sanrakshan Sanstha (NGO), Port Blair will be carrying out bird feeding, fish feeding and feeding of shelter-less animals in the vicinity of Marina Park, Port Blair on 28/01/2016 at 07.00 AM. The programme is expected to be attended by school children and animal lovers. General public are also invited to take part in the feeding.
The Animal Welfare Fortnight started with the inaugural rally on the 14th of January, 2016. Apart from carrying out animal welfare activities like creating awareness, conducting health camps, first aid demonstration etc., painting and essay competitions were held for school children during the fortnight. The celebrations will conclude on the 30th of January, 2016 with a valedictory function scheduled to be held at Veterinary Hospital, Junglighat at 4:00 p.m. Prizes will be distributed to the winners of the various competitions during the function.
