Port Blair, Jan 19: The Coast Guard, A & N Region organized a diaspora of events as part of its 40th raising day celebrations. As per the celebration, a troops get together was organized for Coast Guard officers, men, civilian and their families in the auditorium of Dr. BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology on Monday. Inspector General Kuldip Singh Sheoran PTM, TM Commander, Coast Guard Region (A&N) was the chief guest on the occasion. The event comprised of scintillating song and dance performances by coast guard children and artists, from Assam, Odisha, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, troupe of ITF at Port Blair.
During the event, ICGS Kanaklata Barua was awarded the Taut ship Trophy along with Regional store Depot(PBR) and ICGS Durgabai Deshmukh as most spirited Afloat and ashore units respectively. Coast Guard Air Enclave (PBR) was awarded as the best sports unit.
In his address, the Regional Commander appreciated the participants for their exuberant performance and thanked department of tourism for the excellent performances of professional artists. Further, he highlighted the achievements of the Coast Guard units in the region during the past year in all spheres of CG Charter.
He complemented the CG units in their proactive role in SAR of fishermen and sea farers in distress, saving 10 precious lives, 04 medical evacuation from far flung remote islands and apprehension of 12 poachers. IG Sheoran also commended Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association for their proactiveness and commitment to the social causes and he bolstered the spirits and encouraged the CG personnel to keep up the good work with full Josh, enthusiasm and be more vigilant with the prevalent security scenario, a release from Coast Guard said.
