Port Blair, May 03: The Small Newspaper Association, which was till now demanding closure of the Administration’s mouth piece, The Daily Telegrams, decided to drop this demand during a crucial meeting of the Association, held this morning at Hotel ACC.
During the meeting the members of the Association felt that demanding closure of any newspaper by other media persons is unjustified when the issues, if any, with the newspaper (The Daily Telegrams) can be discussed with authorities, sitting across the table.
However, during the meeting Members of the Association decided to continue the fight for other rights of all Small Newspapers.
It was decided to take up the various issues of local media persons with the Administration like Transportation for media persons, Media Coverage Invitation, Nursing Home facility for Media Persons, National Level Press Tour, Accommodation in local and mainland Guest Houses and fighting against illegal issue of Advertisements for Ghost Newspaper of Mainland etc.
