Port Blair, January 10: Headquarters Coast Guard Region, Andaman & Nicobar organised Cycle Rally as a part of 40th Coast Guard raising day from Junglighat to Coast Guard Regional Headquarters, Haddo, Port Blair on 10 Jan 2016. The ICG officers and personnel including Women Officer, Naval NCC Cadets, enthusiastically participated and made the event a grand success.
The aim of the event was to spread awareness about security consciousness amongst the local populace particularly the fishing community besides physical conditioning and well being of personnel. During the rally pamphlets were distributed enroute highlighting CG charter and also provided information about the toll free CG help line number 1554 for calling in emergency. Community Interaction Programme (CIP) with the fisher folk was also conducted by the rally members at Junglighat. The fisherman were briefed about the emergent requirements at sea and donning of safety gears.
In an impressive ceremony the Chief Guest Shri Rajesh Malik , IPS ,Director General of Police (A&N) felicitated the participants. The Director General Police appreciated the efforts of Cycle Rally members for achieving the aim of the rally, and also emphasized on synergy between the forces for ensuring the safety of islands.
