Port Blair, Jan 8: Since Jan 2014, ANIDCO has been procuring milk from the farmers of North & Middle Andaman and has also set up a milk chilling centres at Kadamtala, Mohanpur and Diglipur. To reach out and benefit maximum number of farmers, the Corporation has initiated collection of milk for the first time from the farmers of panchayat of Shivapuram, Basantipur, Harinagar and Swadeshnagar in North & Middle Andaman Jan 8, 2016 by deploying milk collection van. Milk collection by ANIIDCO is benefitting the farmers in disposal of surplus milk and is also providing self employment opportunities to the rural youth.
The Corporation is also in the process of augmenting of infrastructure for milk collection from North & Middle Andaman for which a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been submitted to Animal Husbandry Department for availing loan from NABARD. Under the augmentation plan, milk chilling centres will be set up at Rangat, Dharmapur, Tugapur and Nabhagram.
