Port Blair, Jan 07: The Block Congress Committee staged a mass Dharna at Rangat Bazaar on 6/1/2016 to press major genuine demands of Middle Andaman area. The President, Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, North and Middle Andaman District President Mr. Rangalal Halder, PRI members and several Congress party workers participated in the Dharna.
The major demands put forth include opening of local quarry at Rangat area for public use since the general public are not getting quarry products for their use from the quarries operated by Govt. departments, filling up of 03 vacant posts of surveyor in Rangat Tahsil and posting of separate Tahsildar for Rangat and Mayabunder Tahsil since it is not possible to cover the area from Baratang to Billyground by the only one surveyor available and the Tehsildar, Rangat is given additional charge of Mayabunder, Immediate supply of vegetable seeds and fertilizers to farmers of the region, issue of sea sand to the general public for construction of their dwelling units, immediate action for the development of Betapur Saw mill to fulfill the increasing demands of the general public, immediate action for release of LPG subsidy since 90% of consumers are not getting their the subsidy credited in their bank account, Enhancement of Old age widow & Handicap pension, deployment of adequate number of big size vehicle ferry vessels at Gandhi Ghat and Nilambur jetty considering increase of tourists and local passengers, providing Ultrasound facility and posting of 2Nos. Male doctors at CHC Rangat as in the absence of Ultrasound machine at CHC Rangat patients including small children and pregnant ladies are referred to GB Pant hospital for ultrasound, monthly visits of Specialists at CHC Rangat since there is no specialized doctor for ENT,EYE, SKIN, CHILD CARE etc is posted at CHC Rangat, issue of earth collection permit through Tehsil office/ AC Office, Rangat as the general public are now compelled to travel long distance to get the earth collection permit from DC office at Mayabunder., hike of DRM wages and engagement of DRMs in Govt. departments such APWD, Forest, Agriculture etc. to solve the unemployment problem.
Addressing the Dharna Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma,. President, ANTCC said that the demands put forth by the Block Congress Committee, Rangat are genuine and requires immediate attention and assured that issues will taken up with the Hon’ble Lt. Governor for early action.
