Port Blair, Jan 7: The 103rd edition of the Prestigious National Science Congress concluded at University of Mysore Karnataka on Thursday. Jaisvin K Mon, student of Govt. Model School Port Blair and his guide Teacher, Mr Chanchal Dey were felicitated with Certificate of Merit for their unique Science Model “Disaster Saver- A Life Saving kit”.
Addressing the gathering, the National President of Indian Science Congress Association, Dr. Ashok Kumar Sharma said the objective of conducting the kishore Vaigyanik Sammelan under Science Congress was to provide an opportunity to young ignited minds to show their creativity in the field of Science, Mathematics and Environment. He expressed his happiness saying that it’s a good sign that a student from the remote Islands Like Andaman Nicobar Islands had qualified for the National Science Congress.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor of the Mysore University, Prof. K.S. Rangappa called upon the Kishore Vaigyaniks to continue doing research and explore the possibilities to devise such models which will be useful to the Society. He said that the Global Warming is a matter of concern for the world and the young scientists should think about the measures to be taken to minimize the effects.
The mega event was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi on Dec 3. Many Noble Laureates, renowned scientists of the world were invited as special guests who conducted seminars on the different topics.
The model presented by Jaiswin was much appreciated by the visitors. Altogether, 86 working models from the different parts of country were displayed at Science Congress. Kumar Jaiswin K. Mon told over phone that it is an unforgettable experience for him. “Listening to the inspiring words of the Prime Minister was a great occasion for all young scientists. I’ve learnt many things after attending the Congress.
