Port Blair, Jan 5: The Enforcement Officials of the District Food Safety Office, South Andaman under the Commissionerate of Food Safety has compounded four Food Business Operators for their 1st Offence and two for 2nd Offence for violation of different sections of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and a sum of Rs. 10000/- was realised as fine in December 2015.
On Dec 11 and 16, 2015 in the Court of the Additional District Magistrate, one Food Business Operator viz., Hotel Kerala Bhawan Bar-cum-Restaurant, Bathu Basthi was fined Rs 10,000/- and three Food Business Operators viz, M/s Blue Bird Bar cum Restaurant, Garacharma, M/s Amber Bar cum Restaurant, Garacharma and M/s Holiday Inn Bar cum Restaurant, Delanipur were fined Rs. 30,000/- each for violation of Rule 3.1.1.6 of Food Safety and Standards Rules, 2011. In another case at the Court of Additional District Magistrate, two Food Business Operators viz., M/s Athithi Palace Bar cum Restaurant, Delanipur and M/s CCS Ltd. (Wholesale Section) Aberdeen Bazaar, has been disposed of by giving necessary instructions.
The State Food Commissioner has further cautioned the Trading Community, that the time period set by the community for disposing of Cheap quality plastic cups/glasses has expired and therefore the Food Safety Officers of this Commissionerate will undertake a special drive on this matter immediately and errant Food Business Operators will not be spared and will be charged under relevant sections of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
