Port Blair, Jan 5: The Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mr Babu Lal Gaur, currently on a visit to these islands, met the Directorate General of Police, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr Rajesh Malik, on Tuesday. During the meeting, Mr Malik apprised the Minister of the various initiatives taken by Andaman & Nicobar Police and a short presentation was made highlighting the issues of Law & order, Crime rate, Traffic, Crime, Security arrangements and the fast developing tourism related issues. He was informed that these islands is a peaceful territory free from communal violence. The people from diverse cultures, regions, religions and linguistic groups live in complete harmony, he said.
The DGP also enlightened about the community policing initiatives taken by the A&N Police, about the Tribal groups residing in the Islands, security related matters and also the concerns over close proximity of Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Coco Island, illegal intrusion of poachers for collecting sea wealth like sea cucmber, trochus etc, safety of tourist, traffic matters, Drug peddling and trafficking from mainland etc..
The newly launched application “Online Lost Report Registration Module” was appreciated by the Minister. He showed keen interest in the initiatives and expressed his interest to introduce the same in the State of Madhya Pradesh.
