Port Blair, Jan 1: The Chairperson, Municipal Council (PBMC) along with some Councillors met the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration recently to apprise him about impediments being faced in providing civic services to the extended municipal areas.
Important aspects such as delay in transfer of funds in respect of area covered by Panchayats earlier, which has been annexed to the Council limits, subsequent to delimitation, lack of adequate manpower, handing over Panchayat assets in these areas were discussed during the meeting. Besides, the matter of allotment of land to the Council for developmental purposes was also raised in the meeting. The Chief Secretary, after giving a patient hearing, assured to provide all assistance upon formulating a comprehensive proposal.
