Mayabunder, Dec 18: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ICAR-CIARI, Nimbudera organised a three days training programme under the aegis of A. H. & V. S., N. & M. Andaman on “Infertility Management in Livestock” for In-service candidates / Extension functionaries’ w.e.f. 16/12/15/ to 18/12/15 at Government Pig Farm, Webi, Mayabunder. The participants for the programme were sponsored jointly by A. H & V. S., North & Middle Andaman; Forest Department, North & Middle Andaman; Acani NGO, Mayabunder Zone and farmers friend/ Pri-members of Webi Panchayat. The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Indrajit Kaur, Basantipur, SVO, AH & VS, N. & M. Andaman; Guest of Honour Dr. Suresh Singh, SVO, Mayabunder, AH & VS, N. & M. Andaman and Dr. B. L. Kashinath, Head, KVK, Nimbudera, N & M Andaman, ICAR-CIARI. Speaking on the occasion Dr. B. L. Kashinath, Head/ Course Director, KVK, Nimbudera, ICAR-CIARI highlighted the importance of infertility Management in Livestock and told the participants to take full benefit of the programme. Dr. Suresh Singh, SVO, AH & VS, Mayabunder lauded the efforts of KVK in dissemination of knowledge and informed the participants that KVK and AH & VS in the region are working together for the benefit of farming community. Dr. Indrajit Kaur, SVO, AH & VS, Basantipur thanked KVK for organizing the programme for In-service candidates at the premises of Government Pig Farm and said that programme will provide the necessary technical guidance to the participants in handling the cases of livestock infertility at farmers field. Earlier, Shri. Manoj Kumar, SMS (Agriculture engineering) welcomed the guests and Dr. Shardul Vikram lal, SMS (Animal Science)/ Course Coordinator gave a brief outline of the course content. In the technical session the participants were informed about the structure of male & female genital tract in animals, technique of artificial insemination, causes of infertility in livestock, management of infertility in livestock and about recent technological advances in ameliorating the cases of infertility in animals. The entire lectures were delivered along with suitable documentary films. The closing ceremony was graced with the presence of Dr. B. L. Kashinath, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Nimbudera, ICAR-CIARI; Smt. Nuw Seveya, Pradhan, Rampur panchayat & Father Lowrance Ekka, Area Incharge, Acani NGO. Smt. Nuw Seveya, Pradhan, Rampur panchayat thanked KVK for imparting need based training programme in the region. Speaking on the occasion Father Lowrance Ekka, Area Incharge, Acani NGO appreciated the efforts of KVK in imparting the technical information/ education to the stakeholders. Dr. B. L. Kashinath, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Nimbudera, ICAR-CIARI assured that more such will be organized by KVK, Nimbudera in the region for the benefit of farming community. Later, Dr. Shardul Vikram Lal, SMS (Animal Science)/ Course coordinator gave the vote of thanks. A total of 30 In-service candidates/ Extension functionaries were benefitted from the programme.
