Port Blair, Dec 16: On the directions of the Lt. Governor, A & N Islands, the Neil Organic Vegetable Mission has been launched at Neil Island. For creating awareness and to adopt organic practices by the Neil farmers a team of 05 farmers along with 01 departmental official are deputed to acquire skill based knowledge on Organic farming at Manas Rural Development Institute, Mumbai, Maharashtra under the National Horticulture Mission Programme by the High Value Agriculture Development Agency (HVADA), Directorate of Agriculture.
This Institute carries out farmers’ awareness and training to teach them the techniques of organic farming. The farmers will be trained on both the theory and practical aspects of organic farming including exposure visit of organic farms and successful organic farmers’ fields.
