Port Blair, Dec 16: The victorious Kala Utsav team of the Govt. Girls Senior arrived to a warm reception on Wednesday. The team members were accorded a warm welcome at the Port Blair by the District Project Coordinator, RMSA, Mr H Nathaniel, Project Officer RMSA, Mr R.K. Singh, Principal, Smt Sangita Chand and the teachers of the school.
The winners of the National level Kala Utsav in the visual art category were given bouquets at the Air Port and were applauded for their impressive performance at Bal Bhavan New Delhi, which was graced by the Union HRD Minister Smt Smriti Irani. After watching the show she had special words for the children of the Islands, who represented in the folk Dance, folk song, folk theatre and visual art competitions at the National level after qualifying the state level at Port Blair.
The members of the winning team are Shivani Dua, Kusum Mondal, Smita Sarkar, Velentina, Kasturi and R.Divya(CWSN), and their project was prepared under the supervision of the Principal Smt Sangita Chand and under the guidance of the resource teachers Smt Shampa Ray, Smt Vidya and Smt Lata. Specially the achievement and the memories of the tour would be unforgettable for the three girls of the school, who live in orphanage.
Talking about the tour, the students told media that due to the efforts of the Member of Parliament, Mr Bishnu Pada Ray, they got the opportunity to visit the Parliament of India, and it was a learning experience for them to witness the proceedings of the zero hour for the first time in life.
The Project Officer, Mr R.K Singh informed that the team of the Webi School Mayabunder who performed beautiful Indian Karen dance will be return tomorrow. The other Schools which participated at the National level from the Islands were Govt. Haddo Tamil Medium (Folk Song) and Govt. model Sr. Sec. School Port Blair(theatre). In the Kala Utsav around 1400 child artists from the different states and UTs of the country took part.
