Port Blair, Dec 07: The Andaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry has decided to extend assistance to flood hit Chennai and Puducherry. In a release, the ACCI President, Mr Girish Arora said that all neighbouring States are extending support in the relief and rescue operations. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands have direct link with Chennai for different commercial activities including procurement of consumables, vegetables and construction materials and the ACCI is bound to help in the city in the hour of need, said Mr Arora.
The ACCI has decided to provide utility kits costing Rs 650/- each for direct distribution to the affected people of Chennai and Puducherry and about 2000 number of such kits will be distributed to the flood affected people of the area. The ACCI has also requested the support of the islanders and solicited donations for the flood victims of Chennai and Puducherry. The donations can be sent either in cash or cheque in the name of the Andaman Chamber of Commerce and industry and receipt may be obtained so that the utility kits can be handed over to the affected people at the earliest, the release added.
