DR SUDIP CHAKRABORTY
Sooner or later this question will popp up in our mind unless you habitually strangle your inner knowing/voice by some intoxicants. At times it becomes unsettling when it prods you frequently and threaten to disturb your mind numbing professional work, which somehow has reached in auto pilot mode. Notwithstanding your accumulation of material things which society perceives a must have to tag you “ arrived”, you feel a void / emptiness that somehow only you can address.
So a time comes to stop procastrination and solve the question for once atleast. Iam sure everybody will have different way to measure up their life but you will be fooling yourself if you are struggling with the below mentioned things. Basically these are questions that only you can give an honest answer preferably infront of a mirror meeting yourself straight in your eyes;
1) Are you always striving and never arriving? Does you always have to do\accomplish something else even before you relish the fruits of a job well done? Is happiness always just round the corner with self content coming with a “If only” tag? Are you always seeking something?
2) How do you calculate your self worth? If somebody stripes you of your wealth, social status and designation, do you become nobody? Or you pride yourself by counting the blessings that you got in the journey called life.
3) Are you feeling lonely even among people? Get out of the self made prison of me, mine and myself. Remove your tunnel vision and immerse yourself in somebody else problem without expecting anything in return.
4) Do you get the frequent urge to escape from your current life situation? If yes then surely the role playing to survive in society has been taken too seriously and the mask has become the face.
5) Is change a very hard thing to undergo? You are always discovering things about yourself, good and bad in equal measure. Tune with your inner self and change \adapt to become the person you want to become.
6) Do know the purpose of your life? Surely its not to find and stick to a job till pension arrives. We are alive because that purpose has not been met. Find it.
7) Are you always inwardly angry ? Stretched to the core,ready to snap just waiting for an excuse to blow up. Go for an undisturbed soul searching session and don’t let emotions and circumstances dictate your action. You are not your prevailing emotion and thought pattern. They are illusions created by our ego preventing us from discovering our true self.
8) Are you always dependent on somebody else acknowledgement\validation? Don’t let this happen to you or else your self esteem and confidence will go for a toss.its your life. Nobody worth talking has ever made it big without making mistakes.
9) Are u always comparing and competing with somebody? There will always be somebody richer,smarter, apparently happier and good looking than you. If only you stretch yourself to the hilt and exhaust whatever GOD given abilities you have, nobody can match you.
10) Count the people against whom you hold grudges; Envy, grudge, jealousy, vengeance etc are all negative emotions which will eat you up inside sooner . So do a favour to youself by forgiving and forgetting.
Periodically have a birds eye view of your life and see whether its in auto pilot mode or it need some mid course correction. We are destined to do beautiful things that necessarily may not be big. Align with your inner self and be unafraid of the change that it may demand to be the person we know deep down we actually are.
