Port Blair, Nov 24: The Science Wing of the Directorate of Education conducted State Level Science Quiz Competition for the secondary and senior secondary students to develop scientific awareness, attitude, inquisitiveness, curiosity etc. among the students. The competition was organised in two phases for both the levels, in which the first was a written screening test conducted on the 28th and 29th of last month to select best four teams in each level.
In the final round of senior secondary level competition held on Nov 19, Ankita Dey and Sherin of Carmel SSS, Port Blair were adjudged winners while the runners-up trophy was bagged by Tinka Biswas and U. Rohit of Govt. Model SSS, Aberdeen. The team from Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Lambaline and Govt Boys SSS, Port Blair bagged the third and fourth places respectively.
In her address as the chief guest, Dr. Suman Devi, Deputy Director Education (Academics) advised the students to have competitive attitude and also encouraged the students.
The final round of secondary school level, competition was held on Nov 20. The chief guest, Mr Suresh Kumar, Deputy Director Education (Perl) appreciated the efforts of the students and advised them to work with sincerity.
In the category, the team of Isher Mondal and Abishak Das of Govt. Model SSS, Mayabunder clinched the Winners Trophy where as Runners Trophy was carried away by Ritvij Mishra and Adarsh R. Pillai of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Lambaline. The team from Carmel SSS, Port Blair and Nirmala SSS, Port Blair adjudged the third and fourth places respectively. Earlier, the programme was inaugurated by Shri. S.K. Sinha, General Secretary- NCSTC Network, New Delhi.
