Port Blair, Nov 24: The Naval Ship Repair Yard (NSRY) of the Andaman and Nicobar Command celebrated its 42nd anniversary on Nov 21 at Naval Wharf. NSRY (PB) is the Premier Ship Repair Organisation of the A & N Command and renders support to all operational and refit work of A&N Flotilla and is the employer of largest industrial work force.
The anniversary celebrations included a cultural programme followed by prize distribution and Barakhana for the families and children of all the Service personnel and defence civilians. As part of the celebrations, harbour cruise and visit to Yard facilities and Floating Dry Dock were conducted for families. Besides, games, painting competition and Mehandi/ Rangoli competition were also organised.
The highlight of the celebrations was presence of 32 specially privileged children from Pranav Kanya Kendra, Delanipur, who were special invitees for the occasion. Approximately 2500 Service personnel and defence civilians attended the event. Commodore Girideep Singh, the Commodore Superintendent of Yard was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Smt Harpreet Kaur gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions and gifts to specially privileged children. The event was successfully conducted with full support of HQ ANC and all Units of the Command.
