Port Blair, Nov 22: As part of the Yuvasakthi’s efforts for women empowerment through Self Help Groups, the NGO has promoted 18 SHGs comprising 200 women members from Mannarghat Village. A formal orientation programme was held in the Community Hall of Mannarghat Gram Panchayat by the resource persons of Yuvasakthi. Mr.Basheer, Pradhan was the chief guest.
In his address, the Pradhan pledged his support to the members of self help groups and Yuvasakthi in their endevour towards empowering the communities. Mr P Senpagaraja, Founder Member of Yuvasakthi enlightened the women members on the aim of venturing into self help group formation and how the Self help groups could be leveraged to attain ultimate socio-economic development and community enrichment. Mr.P.Raja reiterated the support of Yuvasakthi for any kind of socio-economic development through women empowerment. He also stressed the importance of book keeping, accounts, convening regular meetings and other aspects of maintaining the groups which are crucial for the success of self help groups. Smt Zeenath and Smt Padma Kumari, skilled craft trainers of Yuvasakthi spoke out in length about the experience of SHGs with the Yuvasakthi and also on the benefits reaped by them through various orientation programmes offered.
