Port Blair, Nov 13: The Office bearers of Part Time Retrenched Employees Union (Education Department) A & N Islands interacted the Member of Parliament Shri Bishnu Pada Ray and expressed that the contractual employees of Education Department working as PPT, PPA, SCCC, SCM, PCC, CI, CIC etc. since 1986 are not being considered for regularization of their service.
In support of the documents, the Union further highlighted that most of the contractual employees have crossed the prescribed maximum age limit of Govt. service. Resulted in which they are not in a position to search for fresh appointment in any other govt. department.
Further in view of the present living cost of Andaman, the Union expressed that the honorarium now being paid to the contractual workers since January, 2014 is quite in-sufficient to manage with their basic requirements, thereby facing financial constraint to maintain their livelihood.
Considering the logistic and legitimate demands, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, the Member of Parliament vide letter No.54/BPR/MP/ANI/2015/1402 dated 10.11.2015 has requested the Secretary Education, A & N Administration to intervene in the matter and to explore possibilities to enhance the quantum of honorarium atleast up to Rs: 18000/- per month as being paid to the employees of Serva Siksha Abhiyan until their services are regularized under the regular establishment.
