Billiground, Nov 01: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nimbudera organised a three day straining programme on “Scientific Dairy Farming Practices” from 29/10/15 to 31/10/15 at Kamlapur village. The programme was inaugurated by Shri. Kishor Roy, Harinagar Up-Pradhanand Shri Ram Krishna Sarkar, PRI-Member Kamlapur. On the occasion Shri.DebabrataBasantia, SMS (Horticulture) welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance and scope of Dairying for Islanders. Shri.Kishor Roy, Up-Pradhan Harinagar lauded the efforts of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in promoting scientific agricultural practices in the region. Dr. Shardul Vikramlal, SMS (Animal Science)/ Course Coordinator informed the farmers that dairying could play a more constructive role in promoting rural welfare by reducing poverty and providing nutritional security to islanders. He discussed briefly on scientific breeding, feeding and management practices for dairy cattle and highlighted the importance of clean milk production to improve the keeping qualities of milk.The farmers were also informed about the banking facilities in dairying and were advised to take full benefit of government schemes. A total of 25 farmers were benefitted from the programme. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. B. L. Kashinath, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Nimbudera and Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CIARI.
