Port Blair, Oct 30: The suicide case of Late Abdul Gafoor, SHO of Car Nicobar has left many question unanswered.
Although the Draft SMS in mobile phone of Late Abdul Gafoor indicates that he was unhappy with his senior officer and a FIR under section 306 has been already registered for Abetment of suicide.
But some questions still remain unanswered. If Late Abdul Gafoor was victimized by his senior officer, why he committed suicide just a few days before his leaving the Islands? Why the contents of the Draft SMS is not made public? Why he did not share details about harassment with his friends?
Moreover, as draft SMS can easily be manipulated or edited by anyone after suicide of Late Abdul Gafoor, can Draft SMS could be base of any case? Most importantly where is the forensic report?
This is a welcome step that DIGP of Andaman and Nicobar police is heading the inquiry and taking deep interest in this case. Hopefully the truth behind the case will come out soon.
As per details even in preliminary inquiry it was found that even Late Abdul Gafoor was happy for his transfer and he had called his friends and informed about his transfer.
Late Abdul Gafoor was a very strong officer and everybody in Police Department had very high regard for him but what were the circumstances which forced him to commit suicide, under heavy influence of liquor, must be investigated.
The parents of Late Abdul Gafoor are totally shattered as they have lost everything and this should be the duty of entire Police Department to find out the truth.
When Andaman Sheekha raised this question with the DIGP, Mr. N K Bundela, he assured that proper inquiry will be conducted in this case and soon the Police Department will reach to the bottom of the case.
