Port Blair, Oct 29: As part of the Smart City Mission, the Port Blair Municipal Council is initiating various activities to reach out to the urban citizens of the city to seek their aspirations for incorporating in the Smart City Proposal (SCP). A smart phone app named ‘Smart Isles’ has been developed by SOVETECH by taking inputs from PBMC officials. At a simple function held in the conference hall of the Council on Thursday, the Chairperson, Municipal Council, Smt Sheela Singh in presence of Sr. Vice Chairperson, Jr. Vice Chairperson, Chairpersons of various Sub-committees, Secretary, senior Officials of the Council and officials from SOVTECH, launched the Smart Phone App named ‘Smart Isles’ (Search for Smart Isles in Google Play store) for citizen participation.
The Urban residents of Port Blair have been requested to express their views through this mobile app and provide valuable inputs focusing on the issues being faced by them. Residents who participate in this survey will also have a chance to win the slogan writing competition which carries a cash award of Rs. 5000/-, 3000/- and 2000/- for the first, second and third prizes respectively. The Secretary, Municipal Council has also appealed to the general public to participate and play an active role in the preparation of Smart City Mission for Port Blair.
