Port Blair, Oct 5: The Andaman and Nicobar Police observed International Day for Elderly with befitting programmes at Havelock on Oct 1, 2015. Contribution of senior citizens were towards the development of the society was remembered and invited elderly people were requested to share their experience, contribution, problems, if any. They were informed of their rights and the aspects of the safety & security being extended by the police. All the participants expressed their wholehearted happiness for organizing such a programme for the elderly people by the A&N Police and they expressed that such initiation by the A&N Police would definitely help the elderly people of these Islands to live under safe and secure environment. The senior citizens were also informed about various proposed measures to be taken for the welfare of the elderly people by the police. They were also given important telephone numbers like Police Stations, SHOs, DySP, Fire and Control Room. Similar programme was also organized at Little Andaman and Neil Island by the concerned Station House Officers.
