Port Blair, Oct 4: The Port Blair Municipal Council has invited suggestions from the citizens for the comprehensive Smart City proposal. The smart city project broadly covers 24×7 water supply, assured power supply, sanitation/solid waste management, IT connectivity and digitization, good governance particularly e-governance and citizen participation, safety and security of citizens, efficient urban mobility and public transport, health and education .
The Port Blair City is one among the 100 cities identified by the Ministry of Urban Development, Govt, of India, to be developed as Smart City. The Port Blair Municipal Council, Town Planning Unit, APWD and the Department of Urban Development of A & N Administration is preparing the ‘Smart City Proposal’ (SCP) which will be based on the inputs and views from the citizens. Special emphasis for preparation of the smart city proposal will based on the issues, needs and priorities as decided by the citizens.
