Port Blair, Oct 1: Acting on a tip off on Thursday, the SHO PS Bambooflat along with a police party intercepted a jeep bearing registration AN01D 8030 at Kadakachang Junction. On thorough search, two sacks containing sea cucumber weighing about 88 kgs were seized from the spot. Four persons identified as Jagdish Mallick (44 yrs), Rajiv Dutta (31 years), Bappa Bhakta (28 years) and Vivek Halder, all residents of Shoal Bay -19 and 15 were held for involvement in transportation of wildlife articles. The accused and the seized products were later handed over to the Forest Range Officials, Mannarghat for further course of action.
The general public have been requested to pass on credible information on illegal activities on telephone numbers, 233077, 258411, 100 or 9434288536. The informer will be suitably rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret, a release says.
