Port Blair, Sept 29: The GoI, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) vide gazette notification No. S.O 1847 (E) dated 03 July, 2015 has constituted the State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) and State Level Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) for Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has declared Department of Science & Technology to act as Secretariat for both the above Authorities. The notification of SEIAA and SEAC will facilitate for timely clearance of Category-B projects or activities which require prior Environmental Clearance. It is further informed that the MoEF&CC has launched a web portal for the online submission for proposals for terms of reference (ToR)/Environmental Clearance (EC) to SEIAA/SEAC for category-B projects w.e.f July 2015 in order to increase the transparency & accountability in the process. This arrangement will expedite the process without compromising on quality of EIA/EMP and Environmental Clearance.
The entrepreneurs/project authorities who wish to establish any project or undertake any activities in A&N Islands, which falls under Category-B of the Schedule of Environment Impact Assessment, 2006 are advised to login at environmentalclearance.nic.in for online submission of their application for EC & to obtain details of Category-B projects they can login to envfor.nic.in/moef.nic.in
