Port Blair, Sept 28: As part of 15th Raising Day Celebrations, ANC is planning demonstration on amphibious operations for school children at Corbyn’s Cove on 11 October 2015 at 1400h.
Ships, aircraft, army troops and marine Commandos will participate in this demonstration. The school children will be able to witness wide range of activities such as ships closing on to the beach, from which tracked vehicles with heavy armour will roll on to the beach, with soldiers in combat dress with weapons.
The helicopters, hovering several meters above the ground, will show the soldiers slithering down speedily using special ropes. The marine Commandos in full combat gear will also be part of the demonstration, in which they will approach the beach in fast moving dinghies and take position for combat beach reconnaissance . Apart from these, military aircraft will also take part in the demonstration.
This demonstration is open for about 600 – 700 school children, only from Classes 8 to 12, accompanied by their escort teachers. The visitors are requested to arrive by 1400h, not to miss out on any part of the demonstration. Light refreshments will also be provided to those witnessing the demonstration.
