Port Blair, Sept 24: On 23.09.2015 at 1615 hrs, an information was received at PS Humfrigunj that some persons were engaged in cutting venison in the Manglutan forest area behind BSNL Telephone exchange.
Upon this, a police team headed by PSI Subramani, Police Constables Chandran, Sandeep, Tata Rao conducted search in the forest and raided a hide out from where 04 kgs of venison were recovered from the possession of 03 persons namely (1) Sarjit Das (23) S/o Shri Sarat Das (2) Laxman Ram (32) S/o Shri Thuru Ram (3) Biswajit Das (38) S/o Shri Subodh Chandra Das all R/o Manglutan along with 01 No. Dah. The venison has seized under section 52 of Indian Forest Act, 1927.
The apprehended persons and seized venison were handed to Ranger, Forest Department, Maglutan Range for initiating legal action against them.
